Sweet & Spicy Chicken Wings with Soy-Garlic Sauce

Kick off Memorial Day weekend with this twist on an old time favorite.

2 lbs. chicken wings, washed and dried
Dry rub:
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp. cumin
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. onion powder
2 tbsp. canola oil
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1 cup of flour
¼ cup cornstarch
Oil for deep frying
1 cup of soy-garlic sauce


• Mix all the dry spices in a large bowl
• Toss the wings in the dry rub
• Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spread the canola oil over it
• Place the wings on the tray and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes
• Let them cool completely
• Heat up the fryer oil to 350 degrees
• Mix the flour with the cornstarch and 2 tsp. salt
• Toss the wings in the flour mixture and start frying them in batches until golden on the outside for about 2 to 3 minutes.
• Drain into a paper towel and toss in the soy-garlic sauce
• Serve on a platter
